Diansambu, a multidisciplinary artist and Bantu researcher, holds a master’s degree in visual arts from the University of Ottawa and a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from the Academy of Fine Arts in Kinshasa. His artistic career has earned him several awards as well as numerous international exhibitions, notably in Congo, France, and Canada. His works are also part of public collections, including those of the University of Ottawa, the Academy of Fine Arts in Kinshasa, and the Parliament of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
His practice interrogates colonial and neocolonial legacies through their material and immaterial traces. Dutch wax fabric, water, and imposed narratives become vectors of ancestral Bantu memory, which he revisits through a ritualistic, performative, and decolonial approach. In this sense, textiles, painting, photography, performance, sculpture, installation, and drawing constitute his primary mediums.
